Hi, thank you very much for having me, I’m really well thanks and particularly busy since I’m promoting my single.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Breathe Again”?
Breathe Again was born few years ago, while I was still experimenting with my sound, it’s a meaningful song for me, ‘cause sometimes in life we found ourselves in situations whereby you feel stuck, confused, and emotionally trapped, but all you want is finding the courage to change it, and transform that feeling of paralysis in vigor and strength (To Breathe Again indeed..)
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Well, at that time I was in a chapter of my life where my personal and professional situation was no longer satisfactory to me, I needed a drastic change and it took me a while to take that final decision (Namely the end of that relationship, and the move to UK to pursue my music career).
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
The filming process was very exciting, I really love working in a team, so I put together stylists, photographers, make up artists, dancers and film crew, we spent few months planning the shooting, and seeing all those individuals working around my idea and my artistic vision, made me feel very blessed and lucky, and obviously I got to meet lovely people and to express all my love and passion for my music, plus some dancing skills cause I really couldn’t help myself in doing that;). I’m personally very confident behind the camera, since I have an extensive background working on TV and I can talk a lot;), so I loved the idea of people seeing what’s really going on behind the scenes, where we are all normal humans beings, but with a huge passion for arts and entertainment.
How was the recording and writing process?
I usually love to write in the studio where I can be completely concentrated and “in the zone “, there is where Breathe Again was borned, in just one day, and ironically I never thought that it would have been my first released single ever, cause I always write about how I feel in that moment, and not because I want to create a hit or a commercial song, I believe that if you make good and real music, people will love it, simple as that.
The recording process was a bit longer, it took me two sessions in two different studios to record the vocals, that because I’m a perfectionist and I wasn’t really happy with my first version, especially cause I thought “that will be my debut single” and I wanted people to really feel the song, plus I love the studio life, I could spend every single day there and I’d have never get enough of that!
How your Italy upbringing has influence your music?
I was born in a family of artists, my parents are also musicians and my brother is a lawyer/actor and musician as well, so that created an environment where music and entertainment have always been my escape from reality in a way, especially when reality was a tough place to live, and I’m so grateful that I managed to remain loyal to myself, despite of my accomplishments in my career so far .
To answer to you question, I think that my Italian upbringing is the key to my music, which is passionate, dramatic, intense, dark, honest yet full of hope and desire of optimism.
How your transition over to London change your musical view and writing?
I would say a lot, when I was in Italy I always strived to hide my imperfections and not let people see my flaws, because I was working in a very competitive and hardly authentic place, so when I moved here I felt a sense of freedom and opportunity to really express myself, cause nobody really knew me not having any expectations from me , so I was able to write a brand new book and presenting the real me to the world.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
I have so much material that I wrote and I’m planning to release, in fact I have already started to plan my next move, but as you can probably imagine, I’m quite busy with the promotion of this single at the moment , so I’m trying my best to keep up with everything, but I’ll definitely come out with new material very soon.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
I would say around September/October, I’m still working on it, I have few ideas in mind but nothing defined yet.
Any plans to hit the road?
Oh yes, I’m planning to organise a tour, but obviously it’s better to have more songs in the public eye before to make any movement, but I’m ready, I can’t wait to go on tour and connect with people around the world.
What else is happening next in Vina Rose’s world?
I’ll release an acoustic version of the song in the next few weeks, and I can’t wait to do that, meanwhile I’m planning to go back to the studio and start to write new songs (‘cause you really never stop to make music).
And then I’ll do for sure live gigs around London to promote my music.
Lastly, I’ll finally take a week off in July, ‘cause my cousin is getting married in Sicily and I will spend some time with my family and home town friends (I feel like I need some time off to recharge the batteries, LOL).
